Where to Find the Best Pescatarian and Sushi Restaurants in Austin

Seafood in Austin Texas

Austin may be celebrated as the live music capital of the world, but the city’s food scene deserves its own standing ovation. And here’s my take: I’m a pescatarian. Which means, yes to sushi, seafood and clean flavors. And, a solid no to some of the most famous brisket and ribs in the south. So when I explore Austin dining, I’m looking for places that bring freshness, creativity, and surprise to the table. Luckily, Austin has plenty.

Ezov: Mediterranean Vibes in East Austin

Step inside Ezov and you feel like you’ve landed in Tel Aviv, but with Austin’s street-art edge. Their Levant-inspired plates are as colorful as the graffiti lanterns overhead. As a pescatarian, I’m hooked on their eggplant sabich, hummus, cucumber, za’atar, and fried egg on house-made frena bread. Their falafel with tahini and green schug? Bold, bright, and unforgettable.

Este: Bringing the Coastline to East Austin

Despite being miles from the beach, Este makes you feel like you’re dining seaside. Their tuna tiraditos with avocado and crispy leeks are ultra-fresh, and their oysters and clams are a seafood lover’s dream. Even for those steering toward lighter dishes, the chilled melon with Aleppo chili and mezcal is as refreshing as it is surprising.

El Naranjo: Authentic Mexican with World-Class Recognition

James Beard Award-winning El Naranjo proves that Austin dining isn’t just trendy… it’s world-class. Their legendary mole negro includes thirty ingredients, smoky and layered in flavor, and pescatarians can enjoy it alongside fresh vegetable-driven plates.

Sushi Dreams: Top Roe & Aburi Sushi

Sushi is my love language, and Austin delivers. Top Roe offers an intimate handroll bar with just thirteen seats, where every bite is prepared right in front of you. Aburi Sushi at Fareground turns tradition on its head with flame-seared rolls, adding depth and smoky richness to every bite.

Austin isn’t only about BBQ and beer (although we have lots of that too!). For pescatarians, seafood lovers and anyone who craves clean, creative food, these spots prove why Austin’s food scene keeps making headlines.
