Hollywood Is Coming: Texas Passes $1.5 Billion Dollar Film Incentive Bill

by Jennifer S. Goodman

Texas Senate Bill 22 will invest 300 million dollars every two years in film, TV, and video game production through 2035, for a total of 1.5 billion dollars statewide. Hollywood money is pouring into our city, and it could land right on your street.

Why This Matters for Austin

More productions mean more local jobs, more business for restaurants and hotels, and more exposure for Austin. Our neighborhoods could see crews setting up for a major movie or TV series, bringing energy and opportunity.

Record Breaking Funding

This is the largest film incentive in Texas history, topping the 200 million dollars set aside for 2024 to 2025. Six funding cycles between now and 2035 create long term stability for production planning.

Neighborhood Impact

Filming can bring more traffic and temporary disruptions. It can also boost property values, create jobs, and strengthen Austin’s reputation as a creative capital.

Would you embrace a film crew setting up nearby or keep your block quiet?
