Discover Valentine’s Day ideas, celebrate Black history month, see a puppy football game, and more!
Here’s a list of things to do in Austin in February:
This event happens on the first of the month and features beer from Austin Beerworks and cocktails from Tito’s Vodka. Celebrate the Lunar New Year, complete with live music and traditional Lion Dancers.
The Bee Cave and Lakeway area will host the Special Olympics Texas Winter games, which will include powerlifting, volleyball, cycling, golf, and floorball. Due to the pandemic, this will be the first statewide Special Olympics event since 2020.
Celebrate love at this annual night of celebration for queer self-identified women and non-binary folks! There will be dancing and drinking as well as DJ Gemayel, who will be playing dance hits throughout the decades and slow songs, too. Attendees are encouraged to wear formal attire like you would at a school prom.
Head to the George Washington Carver Museum to explore the work of photographer, humanitarian, and educator Jamel Shabazz. The exhibit will feature decades of his work that focuses on portraits of women of color.
Enjoy getting offline at this LGBTQ+ festival. The theme for February is ‘offline’, and the organizers are drawing inspiration from the DIY culture of the ‘90s underground scene. This event will take place at the innovative VORTEX theater space.
Join prominent feminists Margaret Atwood and Gloria Steinem for a night of discussion at the Paramount Theatre. This speaking event will cover Texas politics and more, and it will be moderated by journalist and managing editor of The Texas Newsroom, Corrie MacLaggan.
If you live up north, you won’t have to go far for a night of tunes. The Georgetown Palace Theatre is putting on a Johnny Cash musical with a variety of dates in February. The musical features a number of famous songs, like “I Walk The Line,” “A Boy Named Sue,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and more.
The month of love can sometimes have people feeling low, but we know something that always helps — puppies! Courtesy of HEB, the Austin Humane Society and Yard Bar will be hosting this much-loved event complete with tailgate eats, puppy races, Super Bowl puppy predictions, pet adoptions, and of course Puppy Bowl LIVE.
This popular fundraising event has the goal of raising millions of dollars for education opportunities for Texas kids. Enjoy a night of dinner, cocktails, raffles, games, auctions, and live music by popular country band Midland.

Y Comida is taking over the VIP section at Antone’s for a night of music and delicious food. Attendees will enjoy a 5-course dinner, tickets to the downstairs show, and a signature cocktail. This unique way to experience Antone’s is one of the most interesting ways to spend Valentine’s Day in Austin.
The Emerald Tavern Games and Cafe will host a tea party for two. This venue is known for hosting tabletop games, and there’s no better place to kick off the Valentine’s Day celebrations than surrounded by your friends, or a date! There will be a pot of tea for the table, scones, sandwiches, and desserts.
